Wild Card Trailer

The movie stars Jason Statham and is the remake of a 1980s action thriller movie of the same name. Statham plays Nick Wild, a Las Vegas bodyguard with a gambling addiction. His skill at the card table is rivaled only by his skills killing any would-be attackers.

The movie’s enticing incident is an attack on Wild’s best friend. The friend is beaten to an inch of his life by a thug who works for a local mob boss. Wild goes after the attacker and soon finds himself trapped in a world of crime, wanted by the mob boss and fighting for his life the only way he knows how—by gambling. Wild is the defender—not only to the rich patrons who can afford his services—but for those who do not have the means to defend themselves. Throughout the film, Wild dreams of getting out of Vegas and running away to Corsica—especially because of his gambling addiction.

The movie involves a set of high-powered fight scenes, choreographed by Cory Yuen. The 1980s version starred Burt Reynolds. Both movies were based on the 1985 thriller “Heat”. The original movie did not receive good reviews, moviegoers sighting that Reynolds was a bad fit for the lead role. The newer version shows off a cast that critics feel do a better job executing the movie’s high-action plot.

The movie also stars Michael Angarano, Milo Ventimiglia, Dominik García-Lorido, Anne Heche, Sofia Vergara, Jason Alexander, Hope Davis and Stanley Tucci. The movie’s release date is January 30, 2015. It was directed by Simon West. It did not receive any Golden Globe or Academy Awards nods. Wild Card can now be seen on iTunes.
