The upcoming new Hollywood film Draft Day is bound to be a controversial one for sports fans, especially fans of the long suffering NFL franchise team, the Cleveland Browns. The film centers around this team, which has had a rocky start since reentering the world of the NFL in 1999. The new film may prove quite successful, precisely because of the uproar it is sure to cause.

The film itself is slated to be released in the United States, beginning on April 11, 2014. A worldwide release and distribution date has not yet been announced, but is expected to follow shortly upon its initial United States domestic release. Draft Day is being touted to the critics and public as a combination of comedic and dramatic elements, popularly known as a “dramedy”.

The premise of Draft Day is said to revolve primarily around the general manager of a major National Football League team, the Cleveland Browns. The action of the film follows him as he makes increasingly desperate and comedic attempts to acquire the number one draft pick through any and all means that he can come up with.

To a certain degree, the eventual success of Draft Day may already be assured, thanks to the film including a very impressive resume of Hollywood stars. Hot newcomers and veteran fan favorites are represented in the cast. Hollywood stars present in the cast of Draft Day include such luminaries as Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Frank Langella, Tom Welling, Joe Manganiello, Chadwick Boseman, Griffin Newman, Rosanna Arquette, Sam Elliot, Terry Crews, Ellen Burstyn, and even Denis Leary.

Although the film has not yet seen the light of day at its official premiere, critics are already pointing to Draft Day as a potential sleeper hit for the upcoming season of new releases in Hollywood.
